Summary

Waypoint is a personal cancer care toolkit. Your private data (journal entries, appointment notes, aid program notes, mood diary) stays on your device only and is never sent to our servers. Only content you deliberately post to the community feed is stored on our servers.

1. Who We Are

Waypoint is a mobile application designed to help cancer patients and caregivers manage appointments, reduce anxiety, find financial assistance, and connect with a peer support community. References to "we," "us," or "our" mean the Waypoint app and its operators.

2. Information We Collect

2a. Information stored only on your device

The following data is stored exclusively in your device's local storage (AsyncStorage) and is never transmitted to our servers:

Appointment details, doctor names, question lists, and notes (Prepare tab)
Coping journal entries (Calm tab)
Financial aid program saves, application status, and personal notes (Aid tab)
Mood and symptom diary entries (Profile tab)
Your chosen display name

2b. Information stored on our servers

The following is transmitted to and stored on our servers only when you deliberately create it:

Community posts (stories, wellness posts, caregiver posts) you choose to publish
Milestone events you add to your public profile journey
Likes and follows on community content
A randomly generated anonymous device identifier (used to associate your posts with your profile; it is not linked to your name, email, or any other personal identifier)

3. How We Use Your Information

To display and operate the community feed
To associate your posts with your anonymous profile
To improve the reliability and performance of the app

We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell your data to any third party.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties, except:

Service providers necessary to operate the app (e.g. cloud hosting), who are contractually bound to keep data confidential
Legal requirements — if required by law or to protect the safety of users

5. Financial Aid Programs

The Aid tab lists publicly available third-party financial assistance programs. Waypoint is not affiliated with any of these organisations. Your notes and application status for these programs are stored locally on your device only and are never shared with those organisations or with us.

6. Children's Privacy

Waypoint is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us.

7. Data Retention & Deletion

Data stored on your device can be deleted at any time by uninstalling the app. To request deletion of any server-side data associated with your anonymous device identifier, contact us at the address below and we will remove it within 30 days.

8. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect data in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
